Emergency Test Preparation
test_preparationIf you do not have enough time for test preparation, you still can achieve good results using such learning method as cramming. Cramming (also knowing as mugging) is an academic practice of working intensively to absorb a big amount of informational material during a short period of time. It is widely used by students before taking exams and discouraged by educators as the hurried coverage of material tends to result in bad retention.

Structured approach to cramming consists in: previewing material to be covered, selectiveness (paying attention only for main points),concentration on selected main points and skipping information you will not have time to review.

Cramming tips:
1. Define 5 main topics or concepts that are supposed to be covered on the test. Take 5 sheets of paper. Write one concept at the top of each page. Use only key words or short phrases.
2. Write several lines of explanation or definitions in your own words for the chosen concepts.
3. Make a comparison between your definitions and course source information.
4. Taking into consideration this course information, edit or re-write your understanding of each concept.
5. Number your pages from 1 to 5 in order of importance. (1 – most important).
6. If you have time, repeat the above process for two more topics.
7. Follow this process for a total of nine concepts. Try not to exceed this amount and focus on the most important.
8. Look through all your notes on the day of the test.
