ASVAB Sections
General Science
This section covers the material in general trained in junior and senior high school science courses. The majority of the questions cope with life and physical science. Moreover there are some questions on earth science. The life science things cope with essential biology, human nutrition, and health. The physical science items are concerned with elementary chemistry and physics. Basics of geology, meteorology, and astronomy may be comprised in the earth science area.

Arithmetic Reasoning
Essential mathematical problems commonly encountered in everyday life are covered in this section. These questions are designed to evaluate general way of thinking and the skill to solve mathematical problems.

Word Knowledge
The aptitude to understand the meaning of words throughout is tested. The test questions may come out in either of two forms: the key word appears in the stem and is followed by most nearly means, or the key word is used in a sentence.

Paragraph Comprehension
This section consists of reading paragraphs that differ in length from one paragraph to some and they are followed by one or more questions.

Numerical Operations
The section contains simple, two-number computations as well, subtraction, multiplication, and division. All numbers are one- or two-digit whole numbers.

Auto and Shop Information
The material commonly taught in automobile mechanics in vocational-technical schools and in shop instruction is covered here. In addition the automotive information may be obtained as a hobby or by working with automobiles. The questions in general are relevant to diagnosing malfunctions of a car, the use of particular parts on a car, or meaning of terminology. The shop information may be acquired as a hobby or throughout shop experience using various tools and materials as well.

Mathematics Knowledge
General mathematical knowledge is evaluated. It is a test of your capability to solve problems using high school mathematics, together with algebra and some essential geometry.

Mechanical Comprehension
The understanding of mechanical and physical principles is measured. A lot of questions use drawings to demonstrate particular principles. Understanding of these principles comes from observing the physical world, working with or operating mechanical devices, or reading and studying.

Electronics Information
The section deals with electricity, radio principles, and electronics. This information can be learned throughout working on radios, working on electrical equipment, reading books, or taking courses.

Assembling Objects
This section is only provided on the computer-based test and requires the test taker to decide how parts of an object might sensibly fit together.
