Scores and results
The test consists of 3 main parts:
- verbal;
- math;
- writing.

Every part is scored separately. The verbal and math scores range from 200 to 800. The writing score is on a scale from 0 to 6. In addition to the scaled score, you will be assigned a percentile ranking, which gives the percentage of students with scores below yours.

Guessing
It’s impossible to skip questions in GRE test; each question needs to be answered. If it’s hard to guess try to move aside all 100% wrong variants and among those left. Unfortunately, you cannot return to previously answered questions.

The first GRE question is often not very difficult. If you answer it correctly, the next question will be a little harder. If you again answer it correctly, the next question will be harder still, and so on. If you are quite smart and a good answering habit, you will reach really difficult questions nearly after 5th question. Despite this is not for sure it can be quite useful info. Once you have passed the fifth question, you should be ready to find hidden difficulties in simple at first sight problems.
Don’t disperse your energy on trying to solve every problem, in case you don’t know the answer just try to guess.

The exception to this rule is the first five questions of each section. These 5 question are indispensable for your good result so put all your strength to solve them correctly. Guess instead of skipping. It can bring at least some bewnefits. According to statistics 1 out of 5 completely unknown questions are often guessed! Moreover, if you free your time by guessing the unknown problems you will have more time left for answering easier questions. Because the total number of questions answered contributes to the calculation of your score, you should answer ALL the questions--even if this means guessing randomly before time runs out.

The "2 Out Of 5" Rule
The peculiarity of the test is that it’s quite difficult to create even incorrect variant of answering for students. But they still appear quite reasonable though incorrect. But you should know that often there are only 2 really possible variants to choose between: one incorrect the other correct. Try to cut off all other variants and the possibility of even guessing between 2 variant will be much successful. (50 instead of 20%).
