| PCAT Scoring | Anybody involved in attending a Pharmacy College has to face up with taking The Pharmacy College Admission Test. It is the standardized test that identifies qualified candidates for pharmacology programs. The test is authorized by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. A competitive PCAT score is very important to your acceptance into a good program. So you should start preparation as early as possible.
1. Be familiar with the different sections of the PCAT. The five sections are: Verbal, Quantitative, Biology, Chemistry and Reading Comprehension. One writing topic also is incorporated.
2. Be aware of argumentative and investigative essays. You will be required to write one of the two for your PCAT and are scored on a scale of 0 to 5 on what you write. Zero is an incomplete, 1 is the lowest score and 5 is the highest.
3. Become conscious that the score vary. PCAT score ranges from 100 to 300.
4. Grasp the importance of Scaled Scores. The multiple-choice subjects are scored from 200 to 600.
5. Recognize your Composite Score. Your Scaled Score is united for an unweighted standard. This is your Composite Score.
6. Discover your Percentile Ranks. Your Percentile Rank is your test results as evaluated against results of a standard group.
7. Understand your Percentile Rank. If your percentile rank is 40, that means that 60 percent of test takers in your standard group had higher scores than you.
8. Consult the pharmacy schools in which you are applying to get exact cut-off scores for admissions.
9. Keep in mind, your Composite Score is an unweighted average so your strengths in one subject may assist in making up for your weaknesses in another.
10. Be sure you have satisfied your preconditions. You must complete these previous to taking the PCAT.
11. Fill in all of the blanks. Wrong answers are not counted against you. Take an educated guess for questions about which you are not certain of the answer as it may turn out to be the correct one.
