| How to Get Prepared | You should start from the following: 1. Check the format of the exam, the time and number of questions to calculate the time and power.
2. Think of this exam as a challenge, a time to sum up and show what you' have learned.
3. Create your own test or exam and try yourself in it, find out if you would be able to manage in a certain time limit.
• Don’t expect to solve difficult problems during the test if you haven’t practiced doing them earlier. • Work out lots and lots of difficult problems concerning the material you will face during the exam; • Try to remember the material in reverse or random form but not in the way it was presented in the book. • Look through your previous tests where you did some mistakes, analyze them in order to escape in future.
4. Have good sleep during 2 nights before the exam.
5. Relax and try to imagine good passing procedure of the exam. A simple relaxation technique is to sit or lie quietly and begin by focusing on your breathing
6. Eat light food before the exam in order not to feel bad because of being nervous.
7. Avoid discussing the exam and its possible consequences with any of your friends and especially with your relatives, some of them can disappoint you and influence the results.
8. Throughout the exam say positive self - statements to yourself and push away any disturbing or distracting thoughts.
9. In the question pay attention to the key words, underline them. Read carefully to avoid misinterpreting what is being asked.
10. Do not waist much time answering one question. Skip the harder ones and then go back to them later as your confidence builds.
11. Dealing with problem try to write all what you know or you think you know. It might help you to figure the problem out and some teachers even give partial credit in recognition for what you know.
12. Use any additional and supplementary equipment that is not forbidden. Learn how to use it well ahead of time. There are appropriate and inappropriate times to use it.
13. After finishing the test, check:
• Test reasonableness. Does the answer make sense? • Specifics of the problem or question. If you are unsure of your answer, do it again! • Do not change your answers, especially the first one, students often change their mind and alter answers to incorrect.
14. Check for omissions and check to see if you have made any of the typical errors or pattern of error you were able to identify previously.
15. Use the whole test time period to complete all the tasks don’t pay attention to those who bother you or urge to make it faster.
